Botox 101

Botox has become a popular way to help prevent the signs of aging since it has been FDA approved for cosmetics use since 2002.

Botox is just one of the different types of anti-wrinkle medications that are on the market.
At our practice we have Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin.

Botox works by targeting the muscles in the face that pull on your skin and cause deep wrinkles to form over time. Botox is FDA approved for anyone over the age of 18 years of age. Botox can be used by both women and men to slow down the looks of aging.

Botox is FDA approved for cosmetic use in the upper face. These areas include around the eye, the forehead, and between your eyebrows. Off label areas to treat include a lip flip for gummy smile, chin, DAOs, and the neck.

Botox can also be used for things other than cosmetic purposes. A more common use that you may have seen some commercials for recently the use of botox to treat migraines. Botox also can help with hyperhydrosis as well as TMJ issues with clenching.
